Questions to ask Workday Staffing Agencies

You’ve announced you’re live on Workday.  Woohoo!  What now?

Do you have the team to support the platform or should you seek external help?

You’ll see and hear from Workday partners, staffing agencies, and boutique consultancies, each of which offers a unique approach to Workday support.  Which option is most applicable to you and your team?

Today, we’ll review staff augmentation via a staffing agency or an independent contractor.  Stormloop has engaged with many of the top agencies as well as offers our own augmentation through our Services Library.

See below for some initial questions we recommend asking potential staffing agencies or consultants as you begin or continue your Workday journey:

  1. What does 40 hours mean to the consultant?

    • 40 hours is a full-time job.  Will this consultant be fully allocated and available to our project?  Is the engagement a fixed 40 hours or tracked in actuals?

  2. Have you worked with a consultant before?

    • Try to find out if the consultancy has a track record with this individual & ask for a reference if you feel appropriate.

  3. Is the consultant on other projects?  If so, how many?

    • Consultants will work on multiple projects across multiple agencies, so it’s important you know how many projects the consultant is working on as this may impact their bandwidth.  Additionally, per the first question, how do these other projects fit into the 40 hours, or does this allocation need to be reduced?

  4. What are the consultant’s working hours?

    • Please track the time zone and working style of each possible team member, especially those who are on other engagements and may not be full-time.

  5. Is this consultant independent or part of a larger group?

    • When we engage with agencies, the client is aware that the resource is a member of Stormloop.  Other teams will do the same.  This adds value to the resource because, although only they are assigned to your project, they have immediate access to more knowledge via other team members.  This, of course, comes in addition to Workday Community.

  6. Does this consultant have any time off planned during the SOW’s duration?

    • Always ask this when project planning!

When Stormloop works with staffing agencies, we provide this information for transparency during the interview process whether asked or not.  Augmenting your team with a full or part-time Workday resource is a great way to supplement your team, especially during an implementation when same-day turnaround is required.  The most important aspect to track here is transparency.

  • Is the resource on other projects?

  • What does 40 hours mean?

  • Are they available for same-day meetings?

  • Have they been the main point of contact on a project like this before?

These are the questions that will set your team up for success in the short and long terms & ensure you earn an appropriate return on your resource investment.
